Rupert Peploe

Rupert Peploe comes from a family with a very strong artistic tradition;  Samuel J. Peploe the Scottish Colourist was a relation, also Fitzgerald C Peploe, the New York society sculptor of the 1890s.  Rupert has always combined his professional life in the Antiques Trade with painting and drawing.  He is particularly excited by colour and form within the West Country Landscape, from coastal scenes of cliffs, charming fishing boats and beach huts to the trees, gardens and fields of the inland landscape. His bold use of colour is the predominant feature of his style together with the use of strong wide brush strokes.  Irish artists including Paul Henry have been a strong influence for him.

Rupert has recently had a series of successful one man shows in Bristol where he lives.
