Sophie Harding

Sophie grew up in Dorset by the sea and was encouraged throughout her childhood to draw and paint as both sides of her family are artistic.  She has consistently sold her paintings from the age of sixteen and after graduating from Central St Martin's in 1992 with a BA Hons in Fashion and Textiles she went on to become a freelance illustrator and had a large variety of work published.

She recently moved to Penzance and says “ I've yearned to live by the sea again and now I have an attic studio which looks out to St. Michael's Mount - a dream come true ! My paintings are inspired from living in Cornwall. I work from sketches and imagination recreating Cornish Style coastal scenes. My paintings depict the essential nature of Cornwall particularly during the cooler seasons. I'm influenced by the simplicity and charm of naive art and I hope this is conveyed in my work.”
