Emma Pickering

Emma Louise Pickering was born in Oxford in 1967. She stayed in Oxford to study Art and Design where she exhibited her work in the city galleries and at art events. In 2000 she moved to St.Ives, this was mainly due to a desire to belong to a more vibrant art society. She ended up becoming a companion and live-in carer to the late Brian Pearce, one of St.Ives most prominent artists.  Emma moved to the Purbecks in 2002, where she found herself falling in love with the landscape. The vast contrast of the Purbecks landscapes, from the chalk stacks of Old Harry rocks to the beautiful golden beaches at Studland, became an inspirational force behind her abstract work.

Her work was recently selected for The Bournemouth University Art Loan Collection 2009/2010.
