Jonathan Pike

Based in South London, Jonathan Pike was born in 1949 and has had an extremely successful career as an artist since graduating from the Central School of Art in London and Falmouth School of Art in 1971.  He is perhaps best known for his architectural watercolours and oils of Venice but has travelled to paint in Sri Lanka, USA, Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Holland, Belgian and Cuba drawing inspiration from the urban landscape of peeling paint, wrought iron balconies, cafe society and coloured doorways of the cities he has visited.   The oil paintings exhibited here are a move away from his usual meticulous attention to detail and the artist has enjoyed employing a freer, more impressionistic style to his view of Paris.
