Thomas Reid MacDonald (1908-1978) RCA

Thomas Reid MacDonald is a highly regarded Canadian artist. He studied at the Monument National and Art association of Montreal Life Classes under Edmond Dyonnet. From 1929 he exhibited at the Arts Club of Montreal Spring Exhibitions and from 1931 at the RCA. After serving in WWII he returned to Montreal to resume his painting career. In 1947 he became Director of the Art Gallery of Hamilton and is responsible for their fine collection. His work is in numerous private and public collections including the National Gallery of Canda, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, National War Museum, Ottawa, Art Gallery of Ontario, Confederation Art Centre, Charlottetown.
